On the evening of Monday January 20, melodies of classical music filled the air in Omilos.

to narrate the history of the world through the human creation in buildings, we traveled back to the Middle Ages where we began our historical flashback from the simple and monophonic Gregorian Chant. We followed its evolution, from the monks’ ideas to add a second melodic line, to the four-voice polyphony developed in the school of Notre Dame.

We saw the new form of music notation developed by Guido d’ Arezzo and the story of how he named the notes after the names we still use today. We also took a look at some of the instruments musicians used at the time.

ในที่สุด, we got a taste of the music heard outside the church’s walls from the wandering jugglers, the troubadour’s of southern France and the minnesingers of Germany.

For the first time, on an international level, we will present the “Kakalidis method” for the analysis of poems and short stories.

The presentation will take place at the 7th International Conference on Literature which is organized by the international academic association “Athens Institute for Research and Education” at 9 – 12 June 2014.

This innovative method of analysis is expressed through Dimitris Kakalidis’ books “The Wisdom of the Poem” และ “The Wisdom of the Narrative”, in which the author pervades into the inner spiritual resources of the creator and the creation, revealing the infinite within the limited, bringing to light the hidden wisdom of each literary piece.

The starting point for each analysis is the everlasting, intertwined relationship between Man – Humanity – Entity and the inner belief that each individual is an enlightened being and his spirit is expressed in every aspect and creation in life’s path.

This method of approaching literature and poetry is considered by contemporary critics as “a unique spiritual first” and “the beginning of a new literary school”. It has also been characterized as “a multidimensional work of great spiritual radiation, both in form and composition of the Word”.

It was on 16th December 2013 that we gathered again for an inspiring session, focusing on the analysis of a short story as given in the book “The Wisdom of the Narrative” by D. Kakalidis.

Those attended had the opportunity to get to know the ‘Kakalidis Method’; a unique method of analysing literary works that delivers the deepest meanings inherent in poetry and literature.

We took a glimpse on how the stars are born out of stardust and gas. We observed their adult life as members of the main sequence and the final act of their existence.

Dwarf stars, giant stars and supergiant stars; variable stars and pulsars. Black holes and scientific theories on matter transfer between universes.

Stars explode in a spectacular manner and eventually cease to shine, but the stardust left of their explosion gives birth to new stars. And there it is; the endless cycle of matter.

What is the link between an Orthodox Catholic church in Moscow, a mosque in Isfahan and the mausoleum of a Mongolian emperor in Agra, India? Their architectural origins, of course!

Representing the architectural creation in western and northern Asia, a presentation through the eyes of two new spiritual healers –, and we saw representative examples from each historical period and religious or social influence.

for the theatrical play, The Golden Ratio φ, the Fibonacci Sequence and their applications, we took a look at the architecture that was developed successively in the broad area of the Persian Empire of the time. First, it was developed by the Achaemenides, with influences from Hittites and classical Greece; แล้วก็, by the Parthians and the Sassanids, with influences from the Hellenistic and Roman art; และ, finally, it reached its epitome with the Islamic Persian architecture.

During our second meeting we got even deeper in discovering the greatness of the Ancient Greek Theatre and more specifically the ancient tragedy.

We examined the significance of the theatre in ancient Athens as a sacred act that leads to uplifting of the soul and we approached the elements that constitute the experience of watching a performance of ancient Greek tragedy.

Above all, we focused on understanding the purpose of the tragedy itself: the “Aristotelian” catharsis and the way through which the dramatic poet brings to light human aspects that are very well hidden. Through this art, where those human aspects are consciously performed on stage, the viewer experiences the same passions of the tragic heroes. He experiences all their fluctuations and in the end he finds redemption, becomes spiritually enriched, as he has been elevated through the high meanings and he gains greater knowledge of the self.

How profound this verse of the poem “Because I found glory from within” by Aggelos Sikelianos, which we explored tonight, based on the analysis in the book “The Wisdom of the Poem” by Dimitris Kakalidis.

It was on this Monday rainy night that we wandered within the deeper meanings of the poem, casting light into the hidden concepts and symbols, echoing our universal truths…

In an evening full of music, we discovered the journey through which the role of the conductor emerged.

We discussed about the knowledge and skills he acquires and his central role in the function and performance of this ensemble.

We watched videos of famous conductors during their rehearsals and concerts, raising our awareness of this topic, from theory to practice.

Physics is the science which focuses on gaining understanding of the creation and function of our surrounding world. Its development during the centuries has provided answers to a lot of man’s questions but has also introduced new inquiries.

Physics has always been and continues to be an originator of philosophical thought. There are contemporary theories in particular that have encouraged new areas of philosophical research.

The night of October 21st 2013, we gathered at Omilos premises to explore the development of Physics, and focused on the relativity theories and Quantum Physics in particular. We were introduced to the “Double-Slit” experiment and discussed the important question related “to what extent is an observer influencing an experiment”, hence looking at how human observation affects life and the world around us. It was a vivid and interesting evening, triggering further reflections for all that attended!

At this first meeting, a big part of the ancient and historic non-western architecture was presented, starting from the sheltering structures of Neolithic times and continued with reference to characteristic architectural achievements of the Mediterranean civilizations, from the copper period such as the Minoan palaces and the Mycenaean domed tombs and the Near East and Mesopotamia, such as the Egyptian pyramids and the ziggurat from the city of Ur.

Shortly after, there was a flashback, with simultaneous apposition of historical facts, to the architecture of pre-Colombian civilization with examples such as the pueblos in North America, the Mays and Aztecs in Central America and the Incas in South America, until the time of their conquest by Spanish conquistadors and their relevant “architectural catharsis”.

ในที่สุด, we travelled through the latitudes and longitudes of the African Continent throughout the centuries, with the most indicative architectures being those of Sudan and Ethiopia, such as the Meroe pyramids, the masterly carved Lalibela churches and the under-Saharan territories with the mosques made from bricks, to the European Cape Dutch architectural style in the Western Cape of South Africa.
