The presentation of the poetic work of the founder of Omilos, poet and philosopher Dimitris Kakalidis took place with great success during the 1st International Congress of Poets under the title:

“Poetical Muse Pegasi, 2012″ – “Vitrina” University.

The congress was held on 20-23 April 2012 by the “Vitrina” University and the International Association of Poets, Writers and Artists “Pegasi” in Albania and Kosovo.

Vassiliki Ergazaki, member of Omilos and poetess, represented the literary group of Omilos Eksipiretiton (the Servers’ Society) and talked about the work of Dimitris Kakalidis as a poet, philosopher, Master and great visionary and pioneer of thought and practical philosophy. She conveyed to the audience the messages of his poetry in a high-level presentation, as mentioned. During the congress we donated books of our publications (Megas Seirios Publications) to the Vitrina University.

The president of the International Association of Poets, Writes and Artists “Pegasi” Mr Kristaq Shabani referred to Dimitris Kakalidis as “a great Poet”, “Philosopher” and “contemporary Socrates” and all the attendants, academics and men of letters and arts applauded warmly and congratulated the speaker. They were speaking to her with great respect about Dimitris Kakalidis and also about the power and the harmonic flow of the Greek Word.

Vasiliki Ergazaki was awarded for her excellent performance in the congress by the president Mr Kristaq Shabani and she became a honorary member of the International Association of Poets, Writers and Artists of Albania, “Pegasi”. For her poetry she received the prize “Muse Melpomene” by the president of the International Association of Poets, Writers and Artists of Kosovo, “Pegasi” Mrs Hasije Selishta.

The 15th Annual Conference of the British Psychological Society (BPS), Transpersonal Psychology Section took place in Scarborough, England on 16-18 September 2011, on the topic “Memories, Dreams and Reflections”.

The person in charge of Omilos Eksipiretiton (the Servers’ Society) along with members participated in the conference where they presented the philosophy and work of Omilos as well as chorodromena during two paper presentations. 

A video with testimonials of people talking about how the Society helped them in their lives, a video with the groups and the Society’s work that is taking place daily and also a video with chorodromena completed the presentations offering a vivid image to the participants.

Many of the presenters made reference to our books as well: Dr. L. Culliford, psychiatrist and honorable member of BPS, completed his speech with an abstract from the book “The Master I” by Klairi Lykiardopoulou (published by Megas Seirios Publications which operate under the auspices of Omilos) and he thanked us for giving him the opportunity to get in touch with this book. The person in charge of the Transpersonal Psychology Section magazine requested to present our books in the magazine and some other researchers in the field of “psychology and spirituality” mentioned that they are going to include them in the bibliography of their papers.

The conference facilitators along with many of the participants warmly thanked us for our presence there and for the printed and electronic material that we gave them. They also asked for further communication between us on issues concerning spirituality and its application in everyday life.

On 29/6-3/7/2011 we participated in the 22nd World Congress of Poets in Larissa. The congress, in which 205 poets from 65 countries participated, was held by the United Poets Laureate International (UPLI). At the conference a speech on the “Universal messages in the poetry of the philosopher and poet Dimitris Kakalidis” was presented.

The speech received very favorable reviews: “this is a poet of today”, “you filled our hearts”, said poets, scholars, men and women of letters that were present. In the poetic evening that took place, poems from Dimitris Kakalidis’ work “Logos the Third” were recited and also members of the Society recited their own poems.

In the World Poetry Contest during the congress venue, in which six members of the Society participated, one received the first world prize in the free verse poetry category with the poem “Marbles in exile”, which refers to the Marbles of the Parthenon.

At the end of the congress, the Responsible of the Society was awarded a prize for “recognition and appreciation of Excellence in poetry” by the congress committee for her whole presence at the congress.

Many of the participants showed a great interest in the Society’s philosophy that inspires the works of the publishing house and in the noble ideas that these worksconvey, and we indeed received many ​​proposals for presenting our work abroad.

In 25-27 March 2011, members of Omilos Eksipiretiton (the Servers’ Society) participated in the 5th Annual Counselling Psychology Conference in Keele University, “Intimate Encounters: Reflections on Counselling Practice, Theory and Research”. The person in charge of the Society was present at the conference as well.

Members of the Society, psychologists themselves, gave two paper presentations. In the first presentation, the basic points of the Society’s teaching, the groups that are taking place and the work of the Society were developed. A relevant video was shown that excited the audience – psychology professors, mental health scientists, doctorate and master’s degree students of psychology among others.

The two speakers spoke through their own experience about their contact with the Society that was totally therapeutic for them as they came in contact with people who recognize in them the inner Self and show them complete interest without asking anything in return. They suggested and developed ways of integrating and putting into practice the teaching they receive from the Society in their professional practice as psychologists and in self-care to avoid burnout often caused by the daily psychotherapeutic work under demanding conditions such as working in a psychiatric department or in the field of drug addiction.

During this presentation, “Chorodromena” were introduced at the scientific community for the first time internationally. The speaker analyzed the meaning of chorodromena, the way and the inner position through which they are performed, as well as their results for the participants both as means of healing and of developing self-awareness. During the presentation videos of chorodromena were shown, along with written testimonials of people who participate in them at Omilos, explaining how chorodromena helped them in their life. At the end of the presentation there was an experiential part during which the participants had the opportunity to perform chorodromena themselves.

The audience’s response was very warm. Many said that they felt the power and the harmony of the movements as a strong vibration penetrated through their bodies. One psychologist mentioned that while at first she was quite closed to herself, through chorodromena she felt healed and her disposition changed completely.

In the conversation that followed after the presentations, many people showed a great interest in the teaching and expressed the wish to somehow keep in contact with the Society. It was also said that it is a unique phenomenon that there are people who offer selflessly all these things and we received requests to organize seminars and workshops not only in the University but in other sectors as well. The Society offered to the library of the school and to the participants books and also the whole material that was used in the presentations in printed and electronic form.

The director of School of Psychology thanked us for our participation and informed us that our presentations will be soon posted in the website of Keele University www.keele.ac.uk.

A day-school took place on Friday, 28th January 2011 at the University of Manchester titled “Exploring Therapy, Spirituality and Healing”.

This was due to the recent publication of the book with the same title and focus (for more information visit the site: http://us.macmillan.com/exploringtherapyspiritualityandhealing). It is an edited book with several chapter contributors; amongst those is Fevronia Christodoulidi, PhD, member of the Server’s Society and Spiritual Healer who presented her research, alongside presenting the invaluable influence of the teaching she has been receiving at the Society, in relation to forming her identity and role as a therapist.

Her research focus was the relationship and process dynamics amongst Counselling. Spirituality and Culture. During this talk, she presented Server’s Society work as a contemporary, vivid example of a philosophical perspective that synthesises both specific and spiritual knowledge at universal level, going beyond the usual dichotomies and splittings resulting from competing discourses or cultural debates. What was highlighted was that spirituality is a unifying force in every day living that brings people and nations together, and operates beyond and across the different races, faith systems or other cultural dynamics. This results in triggering the forces of self-healing and collaborative work into full expression, as taught by the Founder of the Society, Dimitris Kakalidis.

The day attended several academics, researchers, psychotherapists, nurses, social workers and authors in social sciences. There was a discussion after the presentation where some amongst the audience shared that they were touched by the content of the video that was shown during the talk, where an overview of the Society’s work and activities were demonstrated. Additionally, there were several questions posed in relation to Dimitris Kakalidis and his remarkable life of service. The audience expressed great interest in gaining more information about the Society’s founder; relevant leaflets were distributed alongside information that is available on the Society’s website.

There were eight presenters on this event that was followed by the book-launch, each focusing on a different aspect of the topic, as follows:

• Dr. Chris Jenkins: When the client’s spirituality is denied in therapy
• Dr. Fevronia Christodoulidi: Counselling/Psychotherapy, Spirituality and Healing
• Dr. Peter Gubi: Integrating Prayer in Counselling
• Dr. Dori Yusef: Embodied Spirituality and the therapeutic encounter
• Dr. Terry Biddington: Counselling and Pastoral Care
• Christa Gorsedene: Assessing a counsellor’s use of a seemingly spiritual gift
• Dr. Marie Wardle: Psychic energy and the client

The significance of such events lies on demonstrating how the academic community shows a growing interest in a ‘philosophy of synthesis’ towards knowledge and ideas, as taught for several years now at Server’s Society.

On November 10th 2010, the Ethnic Health Initiative (EHI) presented the Spiritual Healing Section of the Servers’ Society at a conference held in London with the presence of the responsible and other members of the Society. The title of the presentation was “The Practice of Spiritual Healing in Greece: A Positive Example of Approaching Health and Well-being from a Spiritual Perspective”.

In the presentation the Servers’ Society philosophy was introduced; a philosophy that can be practiced in a simple way in everybody’s life, leading both to the healing of certain physical or/and psychological illnesses and of every weak aspect that may afflict us. It was also highlighted that Spiritual Healing is not just a technique, but it is a life stance based on acknowledging that every person can actually be well.

The principles upon which the Society’s Healing Section is based, along with the way it functions and the training received by the spiritual healers were subjects developed during the presentation. Testimonials of people who were cured of various illnesses and were helped in all fields of their lives through Spiritual Healing were mentioned as well.

As it was further emphasized, there is no financial charge for anybody who asks for Spiritual Healing and that was a point that draw the attention and really impressed the participants. Further than that, becoming a member of the Society is not obligatory in order to receive the services of the Spiritual Healing section. A video depicting the Servers’ Society’s overall work completed the presentation.

In the conversation that followed and during the breaks of the conference, many mental health professionals expressed the desire to obtain further information on the Servers’ Society’s synthetic philosophical approach and its application in healing. What impressed most of them was the organized training that spiritual healers receive and the fact that both Spiritual Healing and the Society’s overall work take place without involving any financial gain. The English editions of our books were donated to university and mental health institution’s directors that were present in the conference, and they are going to be shelved in the libraries of their departments.
