The so-called ‘fourth force’ in psychology was presented on Monday the 1st of April in 2013 We renewed our websites. we published two new collections of poetry and three more titles are to be published. two in Greek and one in English as the translation of our books continues, who is a member of the Society and is currently working as a counselor/psychotherapist at the University of Cardiff in Wales.

Following psychoanalysis, behaviourism and the humanistic-existential school in the development of psychology, a new approach, which was first mentioned in literature in 1958 came as the ‘fourth force’ in an attempt to offer another dimension and perspective in describing the complex human nature.

The presentation focused on introducing the basic thinkers in this field, together with the basic theoretical principles underpinning this approach, in an attempt to comprehend the human needs and challenges and develop methods towards helping and resolving those.

What appeared evident in the presentation was that this approach developed as a result of psychology attempting to address and respond to the issues arising in contemporary multicultural societies; what lies at the core of this approach is an attitude of viewing human beings beyond their pathology, through a lens of acknowledging the self-healing capacities that become evident when recognising the spiritual dimension that is inherent in all of us.

The presentation was followed by a vibrant discussion, where the audience shared thought-provoking reflections. The group agreed to meet again on the 15th of April, to explore another area of the rich field of psychology.
