“When the human spirit carves buildings…” – Part III

The recognizable architecture that has been developed for almost two millenniums in the vast area of China remains China’s trademark and equivalent to its ancient and avant-garde civilisation.

While we were wandering along the Great Wall, strolling among the distinctive pagodas, visiting the Forbidden City and admiring the magnificent Chinese gardens, we narrated short stories of historical facts and traditions of China that are interwoven with the architectural creation or the life story of the respective buildings… until the dawn of 20th century CE and the fall of the last Chinese emperor.

Finally, as it was expected, we let ourselves get carried away by the breathtaking mountainous landscapes that have been an eternal source of inspiration for painters, poets and also directors! And as every well-fabricated fairy tale, this journey of ours included mythical dragons, wars, wise men, kings and poor fishermen, palaces and humble dwellings; we were drawn to such exotic paths in space and time that we got excited and left the happy ending for our next meeting in one week, same day, same hour and same place!

Join us once again to complete our journey in the historical secular and religious architecture of the Far East with a visit to Japan and Korean peninsula.
